Role

Everything: problem, design, build, listing, and launch

A to-do list that focuses on projects, not when they’re due. No account, no cloud, no notifications: just your projects and data, kept on your device.

01 · The problem

Most of what I track
isn’t about due dates.

To-do apps organize around due dates. Most of what I track belongs to a project, like a shoot I’m editing or a certification I’m studying for, and has no date at all.

The Chicago Summer edit: four open, two done, and not a date in sight.
02 · The calls

Projects first.

Every to-do lives inside a project, and the projects sit in a row across the top. One tap moves between them, and the one you’re working on fills the screen.

No account, no server.

No account and no server. Everything is written to one file on your device, so there’s nothing to sign into and nothing to collect. There’s no networking in the app at all.

Focused on simplicity.

No notifications, no streaks, nothing to subscribe to. Finished projects go to an archive that can be restored. Erre keeps to the necessities.

03 · The series

Things on the list, in my own photos.

One project a frame, each pointed to from its chip. Location scouting is three courts from my drone footage, lined up and cut into thirds.

04 · iPhone Duo

Open it, and it’s a notebook.

Erre optimizes its layout for the iPhone Duo by using the side column to switch between projects and change settings. Open it up, and Erre is a notebook laid open: a contents page of every project on the left, and the one you’ve selected on the right.

Closed · Sunday Cleaning
Open, in oxblood · Portland Trip
05 · iPad

The whole notebook, open at once.

The same spread on iPad, with the stapled gutter at the center, and a to-do can be dragged onto any project in the contents to move it. New in version 1.3.
